Iris Podschun (they/them)
Somatic Coach, Community Wizard
Hello! My name is Iris and I use they/them pronouns. I'm a somatic coach and bodyworker, a facilitator, and a green witch, so named by my mother-in-law Lorraine. I love plants, fungi, trees, and the connections, cycles, and timelines that become present when I'm in deep relationship to the living land and beings around me. I’m White and my ancestors are mostly British, German, and Norwegian colonizers and settlers on Turtle Island. I now live as an uninvited guest near Gichigamiing on Anishinaabe lands in Herbster, Wisconsin, on a farm run by my partner Anderson (who is also our chef for the workshop series!).
I'm shaped by more than a decade of practicing somatics, which is a holistic healing methodology drawn from aikido, a Japanese martial art. I first came to somatics through generative somatics, in a training for community organizers. Later I became a certified Somatic Coach through Strozzi Institute, and Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation. I'm also inspired by the work of Resmaa Menakem, adrienne maree brown, and healing for the sake of our collective freedom, joy, and justice. I'm also a facilitator with Olivia Ephraim Pepper's Rainbow Serpent Dreamers Society and Gratitude Blooming, and Reiki Level 2 attuned by Marie Morohoshi of Starnation Reiki.
In 2022 I started a new business, Venerations, inspired by my life-long love of Venus and the desire to offer practices and products to cultivate awe and reverence, which in my experience transcends spiritual traditions and faiths. I make incense from local plants, and next summer will offer even more magical herbal and honey products, along with coaching, bodywork, and events at the farm.
I love to dance, read visionary sci-fi, forage, swim even when it's cold, and climb trees. And I love to be in practice together. I hope you’ll join us!
